History

Formation

Alongside with acting, the members of Cocoa Otoko made their first television appearance as a band on the long-running show Ikemen Deru no Hōsoku: Koi ni Kurushimu Handsome na Endō Mame-tachi (イケメンデルの法則 〜恋に苦しむハンサムなエンドウ豆たち〜?). They released their debut single, "Amai Wana Nigai Uso..." (甘い罠 苦い嘘、、、?), on April 15, 2010.[1]

The band's name was decided due to the members like of chocolates (ココア Cocoa?) and all of them are men ( Otoko?).[1]

Disbandment

On December 2011, the band announced that they will disband in March 2012. They wrote on their official website, "It’s sudden, but we, Cocoa Otoko, will be disbanding in March 2012. Before we knew it, Cocoa Otoko became ‘a place of return’. But this was decided in order for the five of us to grow even more."[2]
